The Heritage Gurgaon now an Ashoka Changemaker School

The Heritage School Gurgaon has become part of a group of only 180 schools from around the globe that are recognised for social change and innovation in education. It is now an Ashoka Changemaker school.

Ashoka Fellows, founded by Bill Drayton in 1980, is an international network that is driving the social sector and offering a platform for people dedicated to changing the world. Three thousand Ashoka Fellows have been named in 70 countries, including a vibrant fellowship of over 350 in India. Among the Indian fellows are such giants as Kiran Bedi, Arvind Kejriwal and Kailash Sathyarthi.

Ashoka Changemaker Schools is an initiative born out of the recognition that schools equip children with change making skills to thrive and make a positive impact in the world, not just in their own lives but also in their communities, organisations and society.

Intensive evaluation was conducted by the Ashoka team through the process of detailed field visits, interviews and self-evaluation and, finally, in-depth panel discussions with Ashoka Fellows.

We are proud to join the global network, including such schools in India as Riverside School Ahmedabad and Digantar Vidyalaya in Jaipur, to be reccognised as an Ashoka Changemaker School. So far, just seven schools have received this distinction in India.

Through this association, we have access to illustrious fellows and global schools in the Ashoka network, to develop a shared understanding of the challenges we face as educators and to provide a platform for collaboration.

This is a tribute to the vision of our leadership, the hard work and dedication of our teachers and support staff, and the ongoing support of our parent community–not to mention our vibrant and inspiring students.
